This subdued, petite drawing appears to be an original, on very light weight paper. I do not know anything about its origins. 5' long. IMG_0790.JPG IMG_0792.JPG All insights/clues will be appreciated. I don't know why the first photo is rotated. Sorry. Thank you.

I would guess this is a woodblock print rather than a drawing. I do agree it looks Japanese. Unfortunately I'm not help in ID'ing it further than that, but I'm sure others that can help will be along shortly!

Google image search helped me find this:

Looks like this was originally by Hiroshige - probably the most well known Japanese woodblock artist of all time.

I know many of his works were copied by later woodblock artists. Chances are yours is a later copy, but I am not an expert.

EDIT - A little more information - this is scene 47 from "The 53 stages of the Tokaido." which is a series of woodblock prints made by Hiroshige after his first trip along the Tokaido Road in 1832.

Could you show a close-up of the paper?

@aaroncab - I'm sure that you are right. It must be a woodblock print, probably a copy (but still, I'll investigate), of a masterful artist. Thank you for your help and the links. Influence on van Gogh and Wright resonates for me.

@Any Jewelry - I'm about to attach pictures of the back of the print, as I think that makes it easier to see the paper's texture. IMG_0807.JPG IMG_0808.JPG IMG_0809.JPG IMG_0810.JPG

Hope these help. The paper has a texture.
    Thank you.
