I have a Meji Era Silk on satin, fine hand embroidery and it is one of a kind.

The back story to this is equally as enjoyable. My grandfather, while serving in WWII on the US side, would barter for items in Okinawa, Japan, during his time in service. One of the many items he brought home was this hand-embroidered panel. It remains in excellent condition, preserved behind glass for decades. All colors are still vibrant metallic threads on a black satin background, the superb execution of this artist has wowed many people I have shown it to. The handmade frame (date unknown) is crafted from a hard traditional rosewood (It is not original to the piece).

A traditional sage figure is seated beneath a gorgeous, metallic-threaded waterfall. A colorful and complex scene of hand-stitched Chrysanthemums and Peonies are carefuly displayed. The floral elements are executed in polychrome silk thread, with meticulous satin and couching stitches. The thread tension remains of high quality and consistency. After having this piece for a few years. I have decided to sell it, I just dont know where to take it. Bonhams told me it wasnt something they would take at the moment, but to try back later. However the overall consensus is that it remains in excellent condition. The type of glass used decades ago has preserved the color quality and intensity of the panel. In addition, the less common subjects in this motif, with this level of detail, make it a rare and desirable piece of Japanese art.

I would love to know where to take it.

Could/would you post photographs, @GSC124? Of the entire piece, both front and back, and including frame.
