Japanese Kendai Book stand.Crests of Crane

    I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this Crests of Crane symbol
    is for anything in particular or just a Japanese symbol.
    I bought this Kendai book stand, but there were several other items with the same crest. two 7" black bronze vases, but the symbol is impressed in those and is brass. I'm wondering if i need to go back and get these metal items?

    It is 8" tall when assembled.
