    Hi,
I believe this is a Japanese pottery vase, stands 5"H, unmarked. I know it is a long shot, but maybe someone knows who made this. The clay (to me) is similar to Yixing teapots
    Any information appreciated
    thanks for looking

It's like a cross between Tokoname and Tokanabe, it think Tokoname resembles Yixing more so than Tokanabe.

I'm more familiar with Tokanabe as I've some experience with Tokanabe wall pockets. It basically means that the pottery is decorated in some way but left unglazed. It has a rough finish as opposed to the silky smooth finish of most Japanese wall pockets. It's my understanding that not glazing the decoration saved money. Since the decoration is not glazed it comes off fairly easily and many Tokanabe wall pockets have lost some, most, or all of their decoration. Tokanabe wall pockets don't tend to sell too well.
