Japanese wood block whodunnit

    I read wood block, but not Japanese. Any help with the signature and or writing would be appreciated. I think the brown dots might be the original glue, unfortunately. I found this in a modern dollar store frame in the local Ill Will.

    I think this is a modern printing. The coloring is singularly lacking in subtlety and finesse.

    Thanks. I've been digging around. I don't know an awful lot about wood block, just enough to know I'm not crazy enough to try doing it myself!
