    Hi folks

I need to pick your brains. ;) Look on the back of this pendant. See the copper color that is on the back of the clear rose? Is that a special glue or a thin foil you put on back of this type of jewelry? The reason I need to know is I want to fix this necklace. On the third photo you will see how the metal it is mounted on shows through on the top of the rose. If I can I wanted to fix that. Does anyone know? jewelry repair 001.JPG jewelry repair 002.JPG jewelry repair 003.JPG

It is a charming pendant, Stormy.
Looking at the central part of the pendant I think the rose needs a backing, and it could have been foil-backed to reflect the light.
Foil-backing is a costume jewellery technique taken from Ethnic jewellery. I know Ethnic jewellery, but this isn't it. It is costume, where the materials are different. So I leave this one to repair magician kyra and the costume joolies.

Sorry kyra, didn't mean to make you sound like the lead singer in a girl band.:D

Do you want to sell it or wear it?

    kyratango Bug jewellery addiction!

Oh, A J, I'm certainly not the lead singer! And mainly when it goes to costume jewellery:oops:

I first thought it was yellowed glue only on a moonglow lucite... but after close examination :peeking::blackeye::cyclops:;), it seems it is a coating (rather than a foil sheet).
A foil should need to be glued first on back of the rose, then the whole piece glued on the mount...
I think I'd reglue it as it is (I use Judikins diamond glaze, water based), in fear of further damage:smuggrin:.
