    Hi all. Impulse buy that I immediately regretted cause as yall know,I hate spending over $5 for anything ! But its done now,so maybe some info will ease the sting a little. This thing is 1x1/2 in.What I *thought* it might be was native American .There are tiny initials inside ,but no silver marking.Is it Mexican ? That opal has a lovely gleam i cant capture so I thought maybe fire opal. Any and all input is appreciated.

    I have to agree with kyra.:bag:
    On the upside, it is not the cheapest type of glass, and many people like it.

    Not sure if it is NA, but if anyone can make out the initials, I'll look them up in my Barton Wright.
    :shame::(

    Confetti glass opal for sure. I'd be thinking more Mexican than NA. Somebody hand-solderered the shank, just don't ask me who.

    Yes, think sterling and Mexican.
    Shine it up! It'll be very pretty!

    I'd work on figuring out what is stamped on the back. It almost looks like a name rather than initials. Could it be "HART"? It's almost certainly sterling.

    Looking at the mark again in daylight (everything looks so much better:happy:), I wonder if it is a circle text, like older Mexican marks.

    Don't be so upset, I've been there, too :) It's just money... The price for learning. And the ring is beautiful.

    I made this very same mistake with a $25 pair of similar earrings. Live and learn!

    We have all done this, and to be honest, the only mistakes that haunt me are the ones where I didn't buy the item and came to regret it.

    The ones I buy by mistake have the virtue of being learning experiences :)

    Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

    @johnnycb09, I de-saturated the image so the silver shows better, but do you see the darker smallish shapes on the left side (since I've rotated it...)....near the bottom, what looks like some stars, a leaf, a couple of birds & stars near the top as well....the right side's in too much shadow.....& even if not REAL opal, still very much a lovely ring!!!!

    Possibly Don Hart, Cherokee Nation

    his signatures very greatly and sometimes feature small doodle stampings. He occasionally simply signed HART, although I’ve never seen it done in a radius. But since his sig has so many variations, it’s hard to discount him. He mostly worked in turquoise, but the style of this ring seems true. Perhaps the opalite is a replacement stone. I would say very confidently Don Hart if that were a green turquoise sitting in that ring

    that said, it’s not easy to re-set a stone in that setting without leaving marks. And the replacement would have to be perfectly sized and shaped
