two pieces from joseph lownes. The bowl at 498 grams and the creamer at 248 grams. Ignoring the obvious difference in weight, which piece is more desirable?

I'm not sure there's an accurate way to answer your question. "Desirable" is in the eye and mind of the beholder. Barring any damage (and price being no object), is there a way to know how many more people want silver bowls of that size versus a creamer? I don't think so.

Both have nice levels utility, they are decorated with the same motif, you haven't mentioned any damage (and I don't see anything glaring), so either (or both) would be nice additions to my collection for sure. Not that I could afford them, mind you. ;)

Maybe you had some other measure in mind?

They should be together as a creamer and sugar bowl, are they sterling, coin or plate?

God forbid! I certainly hope that's not Danno's intent!

    Sterling from late 1700's.

Sorry, gma...you are correct. Meant to indicate silver...coin, not sterling

Also correct! I will not be putting any sugar in that bowl...or cream in the creamer, for that matter

So, Danno, how do you define "desirability?" I still struggle with the point of your question.

It just seems that the lownes cups(not creamers) and bowls command the highest price/ounce. Just my perception in the marketplace

Based more on the supply side rather than demand, I guess I am asking are the bowls rarer? Sorry for being ambiguous!

Ah. Well, you've clearly done market research that I have not. And as to rarity of bowls versus creamers, I have not a clue.

On the demand side, the "bigger, more impressive" objects might attract the buyers with deeper pockets. ;)

Just my perception, have not done any research.
Sterling sugar and creamers are more easily found than a cup and saucer, in any pattern.

It would be remarkable to find cups and saucers in silver. What is missing is the teapot and possibly a coffee pot and hot water jug.

Silver tea cups and saucers are very rare.

Surely you're not thinking about splitting them up?
Wouldn't they be more valuable together anyway?

No, I do not intend to break up or even sell anytime soon.
