Dark and alluring, this is one of my favorite little prints. I do not know the title nor artist. All I know is that this art print was produced by "F. Hanfstaengl, 1903, Munchen", by a blind embossing in its corner.

I'm glad I looked, as the surface has begun to crack and made reading it very tough.

I found this catalog on line...

If knew the artist or title, maybe I could look up one and find the other. This assumes that it is in this volume.

    The image size is 5.75" x 10".

    Does anyone recognize her?

    Thanks,
    James.

No; but wouldn't want to run into her in a dark hallway.

I did find another copy of the same image online, but immediately lost it. It was on Etsy and described only as a Tsarist Russian postcard.

moreotherstuff, I spent another hour searching after seeing your post. Though the link to that image is dead, the seller is active on eBay as flying_ship_1. All of the postcards are on the same background. I'll see if the seller knows the artist.

    Thanks.

The seller replied that he did not know the artist. He did let me know the text at the bottom of the postcard translates the Anger.

Whatever it was that made her angry, she'll always be sweet to me! :cigar:

Franz Hanfstaengl was a photographer and painter; he already died in 1877. afterwards his son Edgar opened a branch in New York and pushed the business with copies of everything artsy.
the best known family member was Edgar's son Ernst "Putzi" Hanfstaengl, a political weirdo that some jokingly called the first American Nazi.

Thanks, I was a bit confused about the family Hanfstaengl.

The embossing may well be an "E" instead of a "F".

Interesting connections and tangents occur when researching stuff! Putzi was part Adolf 's inner circle from the 20's, defected in 1937, and later was an asset to FDR. :)

it gives me more the feeling of a book illustration from a Gothic Novel.
