    Thrilled to have found this Thomas Brooks table, made in New York ca. 1870. Evidently his shop made this design in several sizes; I had no idea! This must be the largest one. And the best part....when I estimate the value, I figure I got it for about 95% off!! For once the ongoing brown furniture depression works in my favor.

    So: I don't have any questions or issues about it, I'm just super happy! I'll probably never find another deal like this for the rest of my days, so good memories in the making!!

    It's lovely! In the glass world those bumps would be called prunts What are they called in Furniture?

    @komokwa

    Good eye yourself! Thomas Brooks applied some sort of coating to the marble in order to make it more evenly white. We know that mid-19th Century high end cabinet makers sought to have unblemished white marble for their statement pieces. I think old Tom was “helping things along” with this coating, which I have on another Brooks table as well.
    I have no idea what this coating is, but it’s super durable and has the desired effect, as Komo noted.

    That's a beast! I'd give it house room too. Also a name; it needs to have a name. Gertie?

    “Gertie!” For some reason emojis are not appearing , but I originally typed in some crazy and laughing emojis. Because “Gertie” the table is absurd and funny!

    Possibly. My interpretation of “bosses” involves a wider bump, usually at the apex of a shield or as an architectural feature. But possibly.

    Got another one! Yay!
    This is a two-arm bronze Harvard Student Lamp ca. 1890. It was their mid-level model, but with the prices being asked on e-Bay, I got another whopping 95% off. Wow, so happy!!

    Any June finds for you??
