Hi. I found this rug today at a sale. I google imaged it and it came up as a kilim Turkish hand woven rug. But that is all the info I could find.
Can anyone tell me more about the rug?
I initially bought it to use as a floor rug. But when I got home and unfolded it, I thought maybe I should check with you guys first. Floor rug? Work of art? Or both?
    Thanks!

I love the design! It looks fairly clean so the previous owner may have thought of it strictly as art.

It was folded up with all the linens at the sale. The people running the sale were asking me if it was a carpet or blanket. So I don’t think they even looked at it. It must have stayed in his closet for years. He was 92 when he passed on.
It certainly won’t stay too clean at my house with all the muddy paw prints. I have 2 dogs and the elderly cat. If it’s machine made I don’t much care about it. But I would feel bad subjecting a hand made piece to my animals and my family who lets them in the house without wiping their paws.

I'm generally of the opinion that decorative housewares should be used as intended if the owner so desires. Rugs can be cleaned. Maybe a good compromise is using it in a low traffic area.

Of course as a wall hanging is great too. They add a lot of texture and interest to a space.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

floor rug , and from the frayed fringe , I'd say once used as such.......

So, walk all over it..... and vacuum it from time to time....
