Featured Knotted Amber necklace from fab estate sale

The fact this came from a fabulous estate sale is irrelevant, but it was a very profitable (for me) sale, with lots of vintage treasures. From last summer.

I don't know about amber, it can be such a rabbit hole with fake look-a-like plastic or reconstituted, yet found myself grabbing this on the jewelry table first 3 minutes of the sale, It was $15, which is a bit more than I usually pay for unknowns.

As I was checking out (this had been on the hold table with other things) another dealer came up to me unsolicited and said that he used to buy a lot of Amber from Russia in the 80s/90s and that this was "the real deal".

Looking on Ebay it seems like these barely sell for anything. Maybe $30? Do I have that right? Any keywords, observations appreciated. Thank you!

It’s fine, it’s Amber. I’ve several like this, they’re basically polished large chips. That strand would be twenty to thirty pounds here.

 

You should be able to make a small profit.
Stone chip necklaces are always cheaper than cut stone necklaces. In the case of amber, both cut and pressed stone necklaces.

With that knotting I wonder if it is Danish, they used to do that a lot, even with amber chips. But I guess we'll never know.
