Featured Known Oregon studio potter

Finally dredged-up a local Oregon known studio potter piece.
William “Bill” Creitz did porcelain and stoneware pottery with abstract glaze patterns.
He was an early break-away post war potter . He attended Portland State University in the 50’s and was a student of Ray Grimm.
He was a member of the Linnton Potters Group from 1961-68.

Prob keep it for a bit til we tire of it-the really fun thing's the local angle.Usually I strike out w/ Studio Pottery (def not my expertise)-plus who can make out those signatures !

 

Yup...got several of those. Hard as they are to read, once you (or some of our sharper folks) figure out what words are scribbled onna bottom, y'still got a days work to locate the artist an' their studio. I try...but not very much...just sit 'em onna shelf an' enjoy. What...me worry?

 

Some of the Studio Pottery's wonderful and to me exemplifies the best of Mid-century Design,the problem comes in trying to ID the artist & monetize the object.
...or just listen to the rain and meditate on the piece.

I'm glad I love the rain amigo (and it beats the heck out of fire season).There's no place like home-but dang,I don't know how folks repeatedly live thru hurricane & tornado season every year.
PS-They always answer-'What about quakes,floods,droughts,tsunamis of locusts.....'
