    Hi,
Is this one of the wooden temples that being destroyed by raccoons? I read an article last year where certain ancient temples are being destroyed. People imported thousands of raccoons for pets and when they would not be trained people turned them loose and now many temples are being destroyed by the pests.

Rocky Raccoon, go back to your room! At least I don't think the Japanese have a rabies problem.

    Hi,
It was all based on a cartoon about a pet raccoon. Thousands of Japanese imported raccoons when it was found that they did not make cute pets. The people just set them loose. Since they do not have a natural enemy they spread everywhere. Thousands of old wooden temples are being destroyed by the gnawing habits of the raccoons. Wooden temples that have lasted for centuries are being destroyed by the raccoons.
