Featured L. A. Shafer Rare? art print, notable framer/dealer

Hi all,
I picked up this small 8" x 10" print this morning by artist L A Shafer 1866-1940. I believe it is yacht races. Sticker on the back for Fred N Morcom Oakland CA. Started his art and framing store in 1920. I was thinking this frame and print are 1930's? maybe a little earlier.
He was also Oakland's 37 mayor in 1931.
I'm having trouble finding prints by the artist.
Any input and or thoughts appreciated.

Nice print. Could be a race with the bouy as a marker. Very substantial vessels to have that much sail up.

 

The date below the signature looks like 1921 (expressed '21.)

Ask and ye shall receive. I'm wondering whether the "Yachting" title means it was cover art for Yachting Magazine.

 

Thanks Susan, I just found that one also. I'm not going to pay them to find out about it though.

 

Me neither, although it's possible another member here does have a subscription and could look it up (not so much for the price of the original painting, but it's original purpose and title for your listing.)

Yes and these illustrations sell well. The link Susan posted that shows the print like mine looks to be in worse condition. I wish I knew what it was and sold for.
