This 7and a half inch long 4inch wide piece was sandwiched between two pieces of glass from an 800 German silver tray. The glass was broken so I washed the lace and tried so far unsuccessfully to cut a new piece of oval glass. Not sure yet if I will scrap the tray and frame the lace. Anyway, @Northern Lights Lodge am I correct that this is handmade bobbin lace? It’s cotton thread I think.

    Hi Houseful!
YES! Correct indeed! You did a lovely job blocking! I take my frames to a glass shop and let them cut the glass!

Great! I thought possibly bobbins as I’ve seen them cross over to twist the thread and so it seemed most likely.
I am awed by those who can do this very complicated sort of work.

You did well! :) I was always in "awe" too... and even though I know "how" now...I'm STILL in awe!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It's beautiful. If you do have it framed, please post an "after" photo!
