Here we go - perhaps an easy one today.

It is not very often that I find machine made crochet. Not only did I find an example - but the pattern is very similar.

This is a longer view of both front sides.

I'm not going to give much info here as I suspect that the crocheters among us can tell the difference.

Examine the photos and give me your observations between the two pieces - front and backs...

I'll come back and weigh in later!

Yes, you are both right! Nice job!

Even if you do not make crocheted lace...they should be fairly easy to judge.

In comparing how "crisp" they look. The machine made (top) one looks quite "messy". It is impossible to follow just one thread and see where it goes...even under magnification. The threads are split and compromised. On the backside photo (on the right side of the machine example) - it is clearly "garbled".

When we look at the hand made example; stitches are clear and crisp and appear uncompromised. We can clearly see "chain stitches"...running along the top edge and a familiar repetitive stitch running along each of the scalloped elements.

    Easy lesson.

I wish I'd spent my life studying it (I did not). It is fascinating.
