Does anyone have some information on this chair. It was my Great Grandparents chair that came from a lake cottage they bought in the 30s or 40s. I have tried to do some research but can’t find anything that resembles this chair. Thanks for any information!

I think it comes under the category of old Hickory, but @verybrad will be of more actual help.

Don't think this one is Old Hickory but in the same style. More generically, termed Adirondack style. Could be as early as the 30s and doubt any later than the 50s.

Just curious what part of the country the lake was in.

I know when I visited my aunt in the hills of North Carolina there were a lot of independent craftsmen. This was in the 1990s.

It's possible your great grandparents bought this from a local handyman who made furniture.
Can your parent tell you how early they remember the chair being at the lake?

The lake cottage was on Lake George, Michigan/Indiana border (north East side of Indiana). My family is from Ft. Wayne, Indiana area. I asked my Grandma and she always remembered the chair being there. I guess there is a rocking chair that matches and my uncle has that one, which I have never seen.

So if Grandma can give you some sort of early year that she remembers being there, you might see if you can find any well known local furniture craftsmen in the local history. Check the local historical society.
