One of the contemporary Romanian glass makers maybe?

It is "pate de verre" which literally means glass paste (it refers to the casting process). I don't recognize the signature but it is in the manner of Daum brothers, the signature itself resambing that of Galle. There is a Yalos glass factory in Murano, near Venice, but I don't know if it is the same--or if it does say Yalos.
A period piece, by the look of it, at any rate, and a very attractive one. Great find.

While it is sweet, it doesn't look like a period piece to me. It doesn't have the quality and subtlety of Gallé or other period pieces.
It looks more like the Gallé etc style glass that is recently made in Romania, which is why I thought one of the Romanian makers.

I don't dare to correct any of the "bêtises" about art nouveau that I have to read.
sadly pâte de verre is faked more and more as well ; not only in Eastern Europe but also elsewhere; especially Amalric Walter's high-priced items started to flood the market in the last 15 years.

It would be a help if you showed the plug and bulb socket :)

More than the electrical bits that may have been replaced, it is the brass mountings that would need a closer inspection.

One of the little silver linings of living in a faraway corner of the earth (that is not overflowing with money to burn), is that it is not worth the crooks while to bring fakes. But in the defense of Jalos, Yaloz, or whoever made it, it is not a "proper" fake, for it doesn't pretend to be by Galle or somebody else. If there is evidence that not period, I'd call it a repro (Yalos himself might counter that it is an original piece inspired by a classic, who knows--heck, success is the measure of difference between reproduction and revival!).

AJ says so, so I have now my doubts as to its being "right".

Anyway, as with anything, any provenance at all? Was is presented as a $50 nice looking lamp or as a long lost masterpiece?

Repro is generally a reproduction of an original. This could be called Art Nouveau style. (Meaning not of the period.)
    Oh gosh, Fern.:shy:
