    hi folks

    this was my last of three local auction purchases

    don't think its got a lot of age, but couldn't tell that from the pic

    I'm happy with it though for what i paid (£11)

    presuming African, but that's about all i have

    any info on the piece would be very helpful indeed

    measure 17 inches

    You should be extremely happy!:woot::woot::woot:
    What you've got there isn't recent African, but a top Bali Art Deco piece!:jawdrop::woot::woot::happy::happy::happy::kiss:
    Probably late 30s-early 40s, and probably made in the village of Mas. She could even have been made by a Pita Maha artist.

    (African women usually don't have long sleek hair:bucktooth::playful:)

    I just found what I wrote on Pita Maha in the "Bali Art Deco thread":

    Mas was the centre of the Art Deco art society 'Pita Maha'. Pita Maha was set up to ensure the quality of the carvings their members made. Each week carvings were presented to a panel of judges and given a pass or fail.
    The Mas style is often called Pita Maha style, but not all Mas artists joined Pita Maha.

    The age has made it even more so.:happy:
    It is one of the features of Mas style Balinese Art Deco, a stylisation.

    I found some similar style ladies. The asking price of the first. on eboo, is ambitious. The second one, on Catawiki, the actual final bid, is more like it.:)

    To think I wasn't going to check Antiquers, still a bit under the weather. Good thing I did though.:happy: (Anything for my Charlie.;):kiss:)

    Very nice. At the first photo, I thought - not African, but Indonesian - better tag @Any Jewelry. Then saw that it was already taken care of. :)
