Featured Large Asian ceramic...

    Picked up at a local benefit shop, really just because it's big and fun. I'm assuming it's a contemporary repro, but I'd be tickled if anyone sees something older here.

    It's modern. I had a set of the matching vases that I bought new at a shop about 15 years ago.

    I wouldn't really say these would be a true Chinese item for use as such though. The Chinese weren't big on wine, nor long-stemmed glasses, nor in fact glass.

    There were many of these made early on which utilised Chinese ornamentation and illustrations, but had little to do with actual Chinese illustrative meaning. I'd say these would have been made by Chinese for a non-Chinese market, an export item, rather than something many would use themselves.

    Definitely made for export - an odd take on Classical decoration. Not new new, though. Based on @Couch Potato Wannabe 's call, the artist produced early-mid 20thC.
