Large black enamel bowl with some kind of gold shield mark

    Found this today and I'm intrigued as to what it was or is used for, why is the shield have those marks, ect. It has no base just completely rounded on the bottom so I am guessing it is meant to be on a stand of some type. Its exactly 8 inches across on the mouth of it, 6 inches tall and 33 inches in circumference. Really thin for its size at least in my opinion and attracts a magnet seen in the pics. Have any of you guys seen something like this before?
