Large Brass Urn or Bird Bath? Or?

    Just picked this up at my favorite local flea market. Appears to be brass but haven't scratched surface to test. It's VERY heavy! Any idea on age or usage?

    The base reminds me of a trophy. I suppose there's no inscription? But I would guess the former owner used it to hold a plant.
