Can anyone ID the two marks(bottom of bowl and right leg)? I like this one, feel it was made well but possibly mid 20th(??). The inside looks almost new(??). Love the dragon eyelash and fangs. Appreciate all opinions. Hope to get the marks translated... Chinese/Japanese?

The bottom one is a spurious Xuande mark, seems like most of these type censers have this mark.

Think your dating is accurate enough. This is a decorator-grade item, not for collectors. The sloppy, flawed casting tells the tale.

Very interesting, which type of sloopy flawed casting defects are you seeing, gas porosity or shrinkage defects perhaps? Mold material defects or pouring defects? Maybe a metallurgical defects. Your eyes seem to be very keen. I appreciate any information so when I list it, I can Properly discribe defects in the listing. Please elaborate...

I really dont think this was for an emperors palace and the design was exactly what the manufacturer was going for. Don’t think I would be listing it on ebay if it was 600 years old perfect piece. Lol

Ok, no problem, here’s your image lightened and cropped to show an instructively “bad” area where the flaws and sloppiness should be “obvious to the casual observer.” If you can’t detect them you should definitely visit some museums with older Asian bronze castings and study them, or just browse classic pieces on one of the websites that show authentic old pieces.

As far as a description in a sale listing, many good photos and avoiding untrue words such as “antique” will help. I don’t think you need to describe flaws that are obvious in pictures. But if a significant flaw, for example a crack, isn’t easily visible in your photos, you should mention it. I haven’t done any Eboo descriptions for 20 years so I’m not knowledgeable on their current rules.

Put online for sale yesterday, accurately listed to the best of my obtained knowledge. 3 offers in less than 24hrs, sold now for $300 to Chinese man New York(other two offer from asian also but low balled from asking price). I should have asked for more, but what the hell, there is always another venture. Never knew what was on the dogs leg. ;) Thanks for your inputs.
