Featured Large carved wood Foo Dog statues - where from & what kind of wood?

    These were part of one of the auction table lots. They are 11 1/8" tall, 5" from front to back & 4 3/4" across the front legs. They are solid & are heavy for their size weighing 4 pounds 10 ounces.

    I am not sure what they were originally made to hold up or maybe they were modified after purchase. :confused::confused::rolleyes::wacky::wacky:

    They are not signed or marked in any way. The sticker on the bottom is one of the guy's handwritten things that reads "Pr. wood carved Foo Dogs large odd antique paint" along with his name & a price of $300.00. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    So where do you think they were made & could they be made of ironwood like my fisherman figurine in a recent thread? How old do you really think they are? This guy tended to exaggerate a little on the age of items & had an unrealistic view of the worth of items. :facepalm::facepalm:

    Quality of the carving is sub-par to be antique. This one is supposed to be Qing dynasty but even it is not all that great.

    Thanks to both @Any Jewelry & @verybrad !! :happy::happy::kiss::kiss:

    I was never under the illusion these pieces were antiques in any sense of the word. I posted them in this section because they really didn't fit that well anywhere else. :confused:

    I will likely do what I had planned to do in the beginning before posting them here. I will list them with a low starting bid & they will sell for the opening bid or we all will be totally surprised. My guess is that it will be the first option. :rolleyes::rolleyes: :hilarious:
