Got this large brass spigot with an odd end. Usually they just taper off at the back so they can be inserted into a barrel, but this one obviously couldn't be fit normally. Measures 11 3/4 inches long. Weighs 5 pounds. Possibly dates to the early 1800's or even 1700's.

Usage? Time Frame? Thanks for looking.

The hook on top is where a bucket is hung when filling it. Most likely used with water, at end of a water pipe. The inside looks caked with a white solid deposit, possibly from very “hard” water containing minerals. All theory of course!

The back end looks like it was cut off of something. Most brass spigots were used outside or for special occasions.
