Large French (Paris) Porcelian Pictorial Vases

    Hi all, I see loads of these.
    Why are they so inexpensive?
    Any idea on this pair?

    No idea why they are expensive. Don’t appeal to me. They appear to be hand painted but I can’t tell from your pics. The same picture on both (would expect reverse perhaps).

    I wouldn’t buy them but that’s my personal opinion. Others may love them.

    I think they are low-grade ceramic, hastily made, and hastily decal decorated. I doubt they were ever expensive... bargain basement stuff. Colorful decorations for people with not much money, produced in comparatively high volume.

    I remember years ago an appraiser in the US Antiques Roadshow was looking at a painting of, I think, horses or cows. He said value can depend on what side is featured in the painting. The horse or cow painting was of the animal walking away :rolleyes:
