    Hello,

Found this object in a marsh. Late 1800’s and early 1900’s there was a brick factory over this land. Can anyone tell me what this item was and it’s purpose? It’s pretty massive and the bottom half is submerged. Please see link below for photo.

    Thank you

    Hi Jono
Please post your images directly in the future. Nobody would have opened your link, but I guess my curiosity got the better of me!
    Welcome to the forum.

It's too bad you cannot see the whole thing. I could not even guess how far down the round part is or the perforated fanned part is. This might be a tough one...but I would imagine you're in the right place to find an answer.

Jono Nelson, I see that you said that "there was a brick factory over this land" --

Could you please tell us what area of what country was it located in?

I am fairly certain that it is not going to be from my area, but beginning many years ago my area had both a large brick manufacturer and a large terra-cotta manufacturer.

We were/are known for our red clay soil. ;)

If it's something you can recover you should regardless of what it is. Many would like it just for the rivet work.

Is the cylinder (under your foot) joined to the perforated plate, or are they separate pieces? Is there anything attached beneath the perforated plate?
It might be parts of a boiler for generating heat/steam.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

In other countries, recently, a couple of WHOLE army tanks have been recovered in receding bogs & swamps....not sayin’ that’s this, just something to think about!!! Do you mind saying what country you’re in, or state?
