I got this at an estate sale last week. It's by "Linnie Jackson" - I googled her but couldn't find anything; gas anyone ever heard of her?
Is this a "folk art" painting? (The name sounds like a folk artist to me!)
Finally, I know it's not really old, but can anyone tell a general time period from the stretcher maybe, of when this was painted?
    I appreciate any help.

I'd call it folk art or primitive.

I'd call it sweet, and think the framing is 1980's...

Think this is a modern artist painting in a naïve style. Don't really think you can call it folk art, as such. Artist probably doesn't really even normally paint like this but, rather, is emulating a popular style. Might call it more craft than art in such cases.
