This thing is 48" wide and 30" tall. I bought it because I thought it was a decent decorator piece. It is done on a piece of 1/2" thick board. I realized that unless the shapes are cut out with a laser, then someone must have carved them out with a hand tool before painting. Well, Maybe they painted the whole thing blue, then started carving. I tried to take a picture of the tag on the back, but failed. It is a sticky tag about 1/2" by 1" and is written on in pen -

Am I seeing drips of some kind of glue here and there? The enlargements make it look like these pieces were cut elsewhere and glued on.

I'm thinking it's Chinese, but can't find another example.

Bev - no drips. Every shape where you see color has been carved first into the wood.

HI rro! Good to see you here!

I think it's a re-interpretation of swans by Walter Crane.

    It does look like Swans...

Thanks everyone - it probably was made in China. It's very nicely done but still a little too "decorator" for me. I'll bring it to the store and sell it.

I'd buy it if I had someplace to put it!
