IMG_6779.jpeg IMG_6778.jpeg IMG_6777.jpeg IMG_6780.jpeg Hi all,not even vintage (probably) but an interesting thing. Thinking a Shona sculpture (Zimbabwe). I don’t understand it,not sure what the artist viewpoint is. Maybe just an abstract piece? I can appreciate the skill and patience is must take to create this (I don’t like it that much)

So maybe just some basic questions do you like it or not? Any ideas about what it represents? It weighs about 17kg,stands 41cm tall and the base is between 16-17cm across. Thanks for any comments

Thanks AJ,I don’t like it that much personally but it also depends on how I turn it and the angle I view it from. I like the 2nd photo ‘view’ best. I like the lines :)

It looks like a Shona carving to me too. I think it's supposed to be two lovers.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

Works by artists such as Bernard Matemera, Henry Munyaradzi, and Sylvester Mubayi now sell for upwards of six figures, and their works are coveted and highly respected.

is there a name on it ?

Swirls that don't involve people are also well known in the Shona art form..

On second look, I think the OP's are ballroom dancers. The swirlies and odd body positions make sense for that.
