I picked this up at an auction in a box lot but for some reason I cannot find a comp on Google images. It is 8 inches long, a pretty shade of lavender with a ground bottom edge. Thanks for looking! DSC03675.JPG

    I think that's sun purpled.

Not being a glassie, I had to look up "sun purpled". :)

Could it be the bottom of a stick butter dish? Purpling happens to pieces past the "big glob of butter" era, doesn't it?

It does. Good thought, might be cheese, too.

Cheese would be great on this dish. It's about the size that would fit a package of those Kraft cheeses that are already sliced. I can see a row of white cheddar looking very good on this dish.

    That’s not proper cheese. ;)

Seeing it in person you would not think it is sun purpled. I think it is a sugar creamer tray due to the width. A butter bottom would probably be a smidge narrower.

maybe, but it tastes pretty good and it's all we can get here without traveling somewhere else to a specialty shop. You should see the stuff they call Pasteurized Processed Cheese Food". We call it glue, but many people do not know it's not really cheese. It also comes in a push button can. When we were in the Virgin Islands on vacay, while snorkeling, a lot of tourists would squirt it in the water and fish would come from everywhere to eat it. Totally disgusting example of cruelty to animals (or fish). I was shocked.

PS. @Verrefou There are collectors of sun purpled glass.

I’ve stared in horror at that canned stuff.

And never understood why a country with vast dairy production doesn’t do proper cheese! You’d love my little corner shop, even.

If ola means the Kraft "cracker cuts", it is indeed real cheese, not like the individually-wrapped American "cheese product" slices. I can't speak to how good they are, however. :)
