Leather chest big rivets

Greetings
This poor thing is begging for rehab with broken lock frayed and torn leather...
measures 26"L 15"W 14"H. There are target-like impressed circles bordered by long X's.

It's in a bit of a state, isn't it. Someone will be along soon who knows what that is.

 

lovely chest....I like the leather , lock protecting flap...and the studs !!

 

These leather clad trunks are travel trunks and often are termed stagecoach trunks. I am sure that most never actually traveled by stagecoach. Condition really looks pretty good for being leather of about 150 years of age.
