This is a small leather wrapped match safe shaped like a flask. Not sure of the type of metal. I saw one on the net that was supposedly Victorian. This does not seem that old by maybe? The dimensions are 2 1/4" long x 1 3/8" wide. There are no markings of any kind. There is a strike plate on the bottom. Unfortunatley, the leather hinge has worn off.
