    Hello everyone!

For today's edition of "let's play a game" I have two photos for your consideration. Similar to my other post today, this one was also listed as a silverplated item. I want you to try to sniff out if that's correct or not based on the following two photos. To allow other people a chance to play, please don't reveal why you think it's worth buying or not, simply respond with "I would buy" or "I would pass". Assume the price is modest; good luck solving!

Oh, even I would buy this! I see ::something:: that makes me think it's silver.

I took a 10$ hit on a bowl last week marked as stirling silver in the ad, but was chromed aluminum. So, I'm probably going to be incorrect. But I do see a reason to buy!

I know absolutely zero, but I *may* see a clue. So, I would buy it.

OK, I am usually clueless, but for reasons that probably will turn out to be silly, I would buy.

Mr Nate, I love your games, I learn so much!!!!!

I got a Portuguese whoopsie tonight. I might take a flyer on this too. If nothing else it's good design.

I figured I would let you guys reveal... So, so no one feels silly, I can tell you this one is absolutely not plated. Would one of the members that said they would purchase it let us know why?

My sniffer was twitching, and I like the design. I've also seen a lot of molded fruit pieces made of .800 silver with German marks.

My first thought was that it looked like a Mauser piece, everything about it typical of their production - had little question it was American, the overall look said silver, and the construction, especially that rolled back lip, also pointed to silver. Started looking closely, found a partial production number, along with the remnants of a poorly struck sans-serif 'STERLING', both typical of Mauser marks, didn't find any others, but it was enough to make me want it - Nate found this piece after I messaged him asking if it was Mauser (shoot me, I was curious): https://www.aspireauctions.com/#!/catalog/357/1923/lot/86331

OK, my silly reason is I thought it was much to delicately worked for plate. Also, I lightened the photos and liked what I saw:

Wonderful explanation Cheryl, for those that aren’t sure what she’s talking about for the sterling mark, here’s a closeup:
