    Hey Guys,

Looking for someone who knows a thing or two about teapots!

Can’t seem to pin down the history of this vintage clay teapot hand painted floral and gold, with a black gloss base. On the bottom I can vaguely make out what appears to read ‘England Gloss’ which is embossed and painted over very faintly. Aside from this and clearly visible in the photo are the numbers 404 in gold. Any info on what period? If possible, who made it and if there is any monetary value to such a piece, as I’m ‘clearing out the clutter’ which means me letting some of the not so valuable stuff go, in a bid to make room for the next intake 6BEF769B-FBEA-4A16-8D93-5128D0280881.jpeg 6BEF769B-FBEA-4A16-8D93-5128D0280881.jpeg FDBC43F8-5540-41B5-82C3-600D95E1D4A7.jpeg 93B007EF-3AFD-419C-A17C-5F3C24DA6AC1.jpeg C86AC765-36F3-4D7F-903A-D31F22B48D84.jpeg 39842A19-13F9-463E-B475-5FBD937E0631.jpeg

Late 19th C up until about WW1. It's copying bargeware in terms of decoration and Georgian silver teapots in terms of shape. An awful lot of factories made these - I don't think your "GLOSS" is any clue! The numbers could be a pattern number but could also be the decorator's mark, to make sure they got paid. Not massive value, it would be ten to fifteen dollars equivalent here on a good day, but your market may vary.
