This chair is interesting. It appears to be a cane chair but not certain. I've done a little research and find similar chairs that are antiques but is there a way to know if it's a reproduction? It sure looks old to me. I'm trying to determine the value of this chair....although I may just keep this one!
https://www.antiquers.com/threads/posting-a-thread-and-uploading-pictures.15990/ Right now it is very lightweight.
I've posted 2 other threads and uploaded photos with no issue. Clearly operator error but this isn't my first rodeo, hahah.
Yes, this is the real deal. Ca. 1860s-70s transitional Rococo Revival/Renaissance Revival hardwood side chair with stitch caning. Probably originally part of a set. The piece is in nice condition! Unfortunately, chairs are often overvalued. The value depends on where you are, of course, but in my part of the US Midwest I’d be surprised if this chair would fetch over $50 at auction.
Of course! It’s always a pleasure to help someone who expresses gratitude with good manners, such as yourself!
