How would I describe these linen poodle items, are they coasters, doilies? not very big 6" by 5", and what is the stitching called. As you can tell textiles are not my thing and I have so many... =D Thanks! poodles.jpg

I have had similar sets, sometimes with matching coasters. I just called them cocktail doilies. Think they were intended to catch small crumbs for finger foods.

on purpose I guess since it is stitched across the bottom, wouldn't catch many crumbs if they were cut out... LOL

Over the years I have also seen these listed as Poodle embroidered cocktail napkins (being small in size).

My mistake too.....then they aren't applique, as they are not sewn onto another fabric.

    Embroidered edges.

It was the perfect alignment of them with the border that did it. ;)
