Got this little tray/coaster/dish whatever it is at an estate sale a few weeks back. The lady running the sale tried to give it to me for free and I felt bad taking it so I gave her $5. Bit me in the ass because later she made me overpay on a different item but in all I did pretty good I think. Wondering what era it may have come from? It was silver plated although you wouldn’t know it from the front, must have seen a lot of use. The hotel opened in 1912. It looks like they were using silver plated goods until at least the 40’s if not later. I would like to nail down the decade if possible. It’s about 3” x 3” so wouldn’t make a good coaster for most drinks. Doesn’t appear to have been used as an ashtray nor is it deep enough to make a great one. It’s very heavy for its size, appears to be brass. Being a local piece I’m interested in knowing it’s age. Were it not local I wouldn’t be quite as curious. Can’t find a similar one online but a bunch of other Copley Plaza stuff is out there.

Although I still need to figure out the era I just realized lol. They only said from 1900-1940 in that link. I got excited about sale price and forgot that’s not exactly what I was looking for. Knowing what it’s called and value is great though! Btw seller of $51 item said the other two they had seen sell went for $140+. Not too shabby.

    Butter pat - that should be a "t" not a "d"

Eh, this reinforcement will ensure I remember next time I’m writing about butter pads. ;)

Edit: I mean pats, butter pats. I’ll put pads of butter on my butter pat.
