Ireland or the Cotswolds? It's someplace where they thatched roofs, and it looks like some place in the UK or former UK.

It might not be anywhere. The town roofs puzzled me a bit too, but this might be a fantasy piece and not actually be anywhere.

    I agree, somewhere in England.
The medieval gate could once have belonged to a castle or monastery, and may not have survived.
There are parts along the east coast that have some Dutch and Flemish influence. I am thinking particularly of Norfolk and Suffolk (East Anglia) which have lovely villages and towns, and cottages with thickly thatched roofs. I don't recognize it, but I haven't visited every village and town in East Anglia.

I agree, I think it might be a composed seen or a composed seen made up from different locations.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll take it out of the frame in case there is some info on the back or signature along the edges.

By George, I think you're right. Here's an older engraving.

That's from the other side, within the town. But it does show the kind of architecture. Cattle wandering in and out of doorways....

The first one seems clear enough, given the discussion so far: Gate of Kilmal[lock] Co. Limer[ick].
