London about 1700?

I am pretty sure that is from London, since it has leopard head on it. But what about second hallmark? Is it a lion?
    Dress of the lady would fit into 18 century. Any ideas?

    Not 1700. Wrong century. Mid-1800s.

    I agree with mid-19th C. I don't think Hanau is a harmful designation. Not quite sure where it stands in terms of desirability, but quality of workmanship should be the first consideration. It looks like a very nice portrait box.
