I really like American Pickers, the history is fascinating. It’s often stuff we don’t see here.

Our Antiquers are such a knowledgeable lot.
They know more than anybody on TV!
(Except maybe for Leigh and Les Keno....haha)

I used to like American Pickers but the new version now is not for me.
Frank is not there anymore due to health issues.

Mike and his brother seem to only look for bikes, cars and other rusty things which I have no interest in. And I can not get on board with them paying so much money with so little mark up. Makes no sense to me.

We have a show here called Legacy List which I just started watching. I will watch more before I give my opinion

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I hope you find some applicants, @jac0b ! And welcome to Antiquers.

Demographics...There have been thousands of people who've joined here, posted once and never returned. They are really only wanting to ask one question, so it's understandable. They won't see this call. Let's say we have a few hundred regulars or semi-regulars on this site. Many of them live outside the U.S., and the U.S. members are spread around the country. A generous guess is that there may be a couple of dozen regulars/semi-regulars who are within easy driving distance of Boston. (Maybe I used the wrong word: is driving to Boston easy?)

They pay high dollars for their stuff-should've saved my 200 gas pumps.

But all the old signs that are in awful shape...I don't see the allure!

Yes, I will try Curiosity Incorporated. Watched a bit of the one about mudlarking, but it got a bit tedious. I think Davey would be a good candidate for a show, but he isn't close to Boston!

Ah, but I collect Tube memorabilia, so I get the signage thing.

I was raised by a rail nut, so while I don't 'get" gas and oil myself I do understand transportation addicts. My dad didn't bring home railroad signs generally, but we did have the lights from the top of a railroad yard post at one point. He got it when they dismantled the Central New England infrastructure. How the HECK he got it into the car I have no clue, but years later a railroad museum crew pretty well jumped up and down at the sight of it. Hauled it off so fast....

Remember the episode where a new hire sent them to the home of a minister? His house was full of Victorian fussy stuff and his love is Monkey Glass (whatever that is). The Pickers just looked at him like he was an alien :D

Never do a gig like this that isn't paid. No doubt they're putting shows like this in development because reality talent aren't covered by SAG or WGA and they can create "content" while the strike is ongoing. If you're ever approached with an offer like this, I would start calling agents because some of these shows can be exploitative without union protections.

I remember quite a few years ago, an estate sale co near here was offered to have their sales shown in some fashion, perhaps tv.
It didn't last long at all. I think it may have been the channel called Vice.

    The Keno brothers! :kiss::kiss:
I was lucky enough to have them appraise my Robsjohn Gibbings nesting tables during a local taping of AR years ago. (I didn't make it onto the show, however.)

Vice used to show some cool stuff, but right now it's all older movies. One did exist for a while, Cash and Cari or some such, but it's off the air now. There was a show somewhere called 'At the Auction" too, that was kind of like Roadshow and kind of not. Wasn't on long.

I have a hunch we'll be seeing more unscripted shows like that for a while - things the Strikes don't hurt.

Yes the reality shows will show up more and more just like the last time there was a strike. I admit I watch some, a guilty pleasure with the rest of the cwap on tv.

I watch Youtubers regularly. They're getting paid directly for advertising slots on their shows and interact with the audiences.

Weren't they so nice and personable?
I had my picture taken with them!
I volunteered when the show came to my town in 2014.
I was so thrilled to meet them!

I used to have the biggest crush on them. I went to the Roadshow about 20 years ago - it was really fun. Of course it never struck me until the moment I got into the main hall that my item would never be appraised by one or both of them because I didn't bring furniture!! That didn't stop me from saying to my sister and 17 year old daughter "Well I'm just going to stand here and look at the Keno brothers." - I could see them from way across the room. Of course there were working volunteers around us, and one of them must have gone and tattled. Next thing I knew I saw Leslie breasting through the crowd straight towards us and when he was about a foot away he looked down into my eyes and said "Hellloooo" and kept moving. Made my year.
