Hi There, can anyone help me ID this basket? I was told it's a Native American Basket but that's what everyone says and I'm thinking it's not. It looks like a purse to me. It's large at 15" high 10" wide and 8" deep. I am hoping to figure out where and when it was made. Thanks for any help!

Welcome sillyboy. We have members who know about these things who might not look at this post because they know Native American, not antique purses. So let's call one: @komokwa

The material and structure are not from North America.......& instead of guessing .... I'll kick the can down the road to @Taupou for a better idea of where it came from !

Thanks everyone, should I add Native American to the title?

I'll wait for Taupou's opinion as to what it is; but I'll agree that it is not Native American, and is not from North America.

Sorry, I can't be of any help on this one, other than to confirm what others have already said...it's definitely not Native American, and not antique.

Those measurements don't seem quite right but looks to be the type of woven bag that someone would have bought at the dime store anytime from the 1950s on to carry to the beach. Not to say it isn't attractive in very good condition.
