Looking for some help to identify a pewter basket

    I'm a newbie to your site and have enjoyed reading some of the posts. I bought this pretty basket at a local store and hoping you can tell me the maker and age of basket. It's 9" high 8 1/4' long x 4" wide and has four stamps on the bottom.

    As you probably know from the stamps on the bottom, this little basket was made in Italy. The 95% marking is 20th century. The EPU mark is for the European Pewter Union. See this page for info on the EPU and marks. https://www.britishpewter.co.uk/european-pewter-union/

    Hm. For some reason the list of EPU numbers is not there. Sorry about that.

    We do know that your little Italian basket was made by EPU member 121. Unfortunately I don't know who that is.

    EPU is really a project that completely failed. around 1978 the idea showed up to define a standard marking system (with % mark, known addresses and listed producers etc.) to stop the import of fake "antique" pewter into the EC. it never took off - probably because there are enough cheaters in the EC itself.
