Louis Icart Illusion Print

This Louis Icart Illusion print was purchased from someone who says they bought it at a thrift store, for what that’s worth. I’ve looked at a lot of Illusion prints and etchings on-line and am confused as to what I have and whether it has anything more than decorative value. Any help is appreciated. I am mostly concerned about describing it correctly, and about not selling something as decorative art if it is significantly better than that.

The image, not including the signature or any margin is 11 x 5 inches, matted it is 19 x 12.5 inches, framed it is 23 x 16.5 inches.

The image has dots, the numbering does not, and the signature also does not look like it has dots to me.

I saw 3 other examples that had similar numbering out of 500.

204/500 is described as “a limited edition serigraph signed by the artist himself, produced in 1940.” It’s on offer on ebay for $639.

208/500 is described as “a signed Limited Edition Lithograph,” on offer on ebay for $1400.
Also saw that 208/500 sold at Auctions by the Bay in 2004 for $150, framed similar to mine, described as “offset lithograph printed in colors, signed as part of image, numbered in pencil.”

125/500 sold at Rogallery, I don’t know for how much, and is described as “a 1990 Giclee, numbered in pencil.” There is also an entry on-line for this item auctioned by Rogallery in 2019, and passed, with an estimate of $700-900.

My assessment is that I have a nice Limited Edition print, hand numbered in pencil, worth less than the $639 that nobody is buying it for on ebay.

Any confirmation/correction of what I think would be appreciated. Also, I think the signature is printed, not real, but I would like to understand why the print itself has dots from the printing process while the signature does not.

If you have read this far, I really appreciate it. Seems like a lot to ask! Thanks for any help or comments.

These are identical ...


PS: The numbering is a gimmick, the frame has more value than the printed image.
