Has the wolf / crossed L's mark. I wouldn't have known the maker on this had I not recently seen a thread on here about a Lourioux bowl. I learn so much on here! When I turned this over and saw the mark I snatched it up. Anyway - thought I'd share. Hot chocolate set? Or ..coffee? The little cups hold about 2.5 ounces.

I really like this set! When I saw the logo "Louis Vuitton" popped in my head. Its pure 1980s to me. Yet another item to look for!

    Cool set!

This may well be a chocolate set. From what I recall, that small, sharp spout, set at a 90 degree angle to the pot, is characteristic of a chocolate pot.

I have the bowl and wish I had this set. You lucky thing. JB Miller was the clever Antiquer who identified the mark and said: "French potter Louis Lourioux, 1874-1930. He used several marks on his early pieces, one of which is a wolf (or dog) running to the left with overlapping L's over the center of the animal."

I guess I am the only one wondering why there is a cork on the end of the lid. I also have been "thinking ahead" to the possibility/fact? that the length of the cork is in such close proximity to the spout that the cork will routinely be "bathed" in chocolate as it is poured.

It's sandstone/ceramic - just looks like cork in the pic. :)

You got me thinking - so I measured the capacity of the cups - and they are way less than what I guessed by eyeballing - 22ml / .75 ounces. So I think most likely you are right. Probably a liquour decanter and "half shot" glasses.

    Hello,

Is Louis Lourioux liquor service for sale? If yes, I would be a buyer.

    To read you.

I would have bought this without even looking at the mark. It's very cool. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Congrats.
