Rue de Richelieu is a long street of Paris, starting in the south of the 1st arrondissement, ending in the 2nd arrondissement.

as i'm fluent in french ;) ive made a translation, pretty much word for word, all by my own being

but i have to admit to being unable to make a connection

The Pyrenees au Stéréoscope series, composed of 112 images, was announced in the newspaper La Lumière on November 13, 1858. The numbers of these images range from n ° 65 to 177 and correspond to the photographs deposited seven years later by Alexandre Bertrand , author of the shooting. It is difficult to date with precision the execution of this series of images, however several clues in the photographs argue in favor of making the photographs between 1855 and 1856.

The views printed on albumen paper are printed on beige cardboard, more rarely pale yellow. Photographs are always square cut, and the series is invariably marked to the left of cards. A handwritten legend, usually in black ink, is inscribed on the back of the cards.

Several resellers distributed the Pyrenees series edited by the Gaudin house (some views bear labels or wet stamps): the L. Adam house Sale of antique jewelry and curiosities located in Paris with a branch in Bagnères-de-Luchon - A. Barrère Publisher in Paris Aux Arts Reunis - Gaujean Hairdresser in Pau - Emile Mongrand Jeune in Pau

That appears to be he. Painter, poster artist and lithographer. According to the d'Orsay, he had two addresses: 22 rue Neuve des Capucines and 59 rue de Richelieu. That information should be helpful in dating your item.

    interesting stuff, thanks deb

i just hope he didnt have both addresses at the same time:)

thinking probably not a personal item of his, as you wouldn't label something like that

A seminal Belle Époque figure but, surprising, there's not a lot about him on the internet.

yeah i seem to recognize his work that i'm seeing, or definitely work like his

suppose it could have been an office desk piece

maybe even been painted by him, intriguing

  18. Figtree3

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I believe this means that his company was one of the ones that resold and distributed the stereograph series in later years. According to Wikipedia he was born in 1874 and died in 1931. If that is correct, I would guess the label couldn't date from earlier than the late 1890s.
