Curious if any one recognizes this work? First of all - aside from the green velvet lining on the inner frame, the outer frame is LOVELY! It is a Yorkshire landscape and appears to have some age. I can't figure out if the last name is McLerey/McLeroy or M. Leroy? I am not finding anything.

    It's signed "M. Leroy"

This style of late Victorian landscape shows up from time to time, IMO they are the forerunners of the modern "factory" paintings and I believe they would have been sold as decor to middle class families in the UK.
Pleasant bucolic landscapes in fashionable frames by unknown artists, they filled an affordable need in polite society of the day.
Charming in their own way and reminiscent of simpler times.

Found this Mcleroy, can’t find out much else. Looks like the same view but not the same painting. Something for you to explore.

Agree with Blooey. Executed with haste as if time were money.

I just check and it could be painted opaque glass on panel. It is so smooth that I thought it was strange!

Oh! It's on glass! No wonder the clouds look so weird!
I prefer the frame to the painting..
