As per title, I cant make up my mind whether this started life as a wall/table lamp or not. Gut feel says not.

The lever allows the top section to swivel from vertical to horizontal and there is a hanging (?) hook which would allow it to be hung on a (cabin?) wall with the top then vertical

    What do you think?

I Have seen many such as this - but usually circa 1950s - this appears slightly older.

Maybe even a train lamp ? I would think it is indeed a wall mounted lamp,I really like it.

Von Bremen had a very interesting history, from what i have been able to find out, mainly manufacturing old diving equipment

Reminds me of a candlestick phone style base. Could have been a part of an intercom type device on a ship.

google images search for convertible wall table lamp brings up many, but you have to wade through a mass of convertible sofa beds as well...................so much for intuitive search..........................

It looks like an old wall mount to me too. Kiel had huge shipyards and other industry. That swivel bulb holder might not have worked to well in a moving "room", so I'm guessing it was for use in some sort of office setting.

That is a gimble type light usually used on ships, trains, etc.

It locks into place so it could have been used in a moving room
