I recently managed to acquire two Lusitania medals. Originally minted by the Germans to 'celebrate' the sinking of the Cunard passenger liner RMS Lusitania on May 7th 1915, with the loss of over 1100 lives.
I have wanted one of these for some time, and now have two, one fortunately still in its box, and more unusually still with its propaganda leaflet. These are not really rare, but are totally fascinating for anybody interested in the Great War, or the great liners.

The story of this medal is as interesting as the story of the great ship herself....

They are not exactly rare, and there are several different issues, but the German ones are far rarer. One is dated 5th mai, and the other 7th mai. The 7th May was the correct date of the sinking, so the earlier date of the first issue was a propaganda goldmine for the British. It is worth checking to see which you have Dave.
